Unprecedented Discovery: Exceptionally Rare Two-Headed Snake Unearthed in Croatia

October 30, 2023 by Pham Hien

The strange-looking ɢʀᴀss snake was found in the retired man Josip Vranic’s property in the Cʀᴏᴀᴛɪᴀn village of Kravarsko, which is ᴄʟᴏsᴇ to Zagreb.

The snake, according to the man, was lazing on the concrete floor behind the garage when he found her at his home. He was sᴜʀᴘʀɪsᴇd and sʜᴏᴄᴋed. He found it so unusual that he couldn’t believe he had just discovered it.

After quickly placing the snake in a little basket, Mr. Vranic asked his 46-year-old buddy Vedran Glavan to capture images of the strange animal. Mr. Glavan claimed that viewers of their film didn’t believe the snake was real and some even believed it to be a computer trick.

Two-headed snakes are extremely rare in the wild. They develop when a developing embryo, which is known as polycephaly, begins to split but only does so partially. Snakes in nature have relatively low survival rates because they are easy prey for predators due to their poor coordination and constrained movement.

Mr. Vranic continued that his intention was that she lived as long as possible under professional supervision and for others to be able to view the snake.
