Katy Perry Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Late Hairstylist Jesus Guerrero: “It Was Easy to Love You”
Katy Perry is mourning the loss of her dear friend and celebrity hairstylist, Jesus Guerrero, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 34. On March 1, the pop star, 40, posted an emotional tribute to Guerrero on Instagram, sharing a collection of photos and videos that capture their time together, from events to music video shoots and casual hangouts.
In her heartfelt caption, Perry began, “Hey Hey aka Chuy aka Jesus, our light-filled beautiful boy ❤️.” She went on to describe Guerrero as someone who brought warmth and positivity to every room, saying, “There was no problem too big to solve, and one of your many talents was effortlessly reminding women around the world of our Goddess nature with even just a simple blowout.”
Perry spoke about the care Guerrero showed everyone, noting, “You took care of everyone and brought a positive energy to everything. It was easy to love you because you always felt like an old friend who would tell you the truth and hold you if you needed an extra cuddle.”
She found comfort in the belief that Guerrero is now at peace, writing, “I know you are OK because you are now in the light that you shined so brightly back here on earth. It’s just us that are left with a dimmer world without you.”
In her post, Perry shared a poignant quote on grief, saying, “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give, but cannot. All that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.” She encouraged her followers to channel that grief into love for others, adding, “Life is precious and when we unexpectedly lose ones we love without being able to say goodbye, it reminds us to never ever hold back on giving out our love.”
Perry ended her tribute with a lighthearted note, writing, “Jesus, you effervescent soul you, you better be giving the other Jesus a choppy feather or an octopus cut up there lol… till we meet again, I love you Chuy.”
Guerrero’s family announced his passing in an Instagram post on February 23, expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of support and sharing that Guerrero was “the brightest light” who touched many lives. In a GoFundMe campaign, his sister Gris shared that his death was sudden and unexpected, though the cause has not been made public. She wrote, “He is a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more.”
Since Guerrero’s death, many celebrities have paid tribute, including Kylie Jenner, who offered to cover his funeral expenses. An insider told PEOPLE that Jenner, deeply affected by his passing, is doing everything she can to support Guerrero’s family during this difficult time.
Guerrero, known for working with stars like Jennifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Miley Cyrus, Rosalía, Demi Moore, Charli XCX, and many others, is remembered for his talent and impact on the fashion and beauty world.
