Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has no interest in taking career advice from Antonio Brown, especially when it comes to his decision to leave the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brown, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star and Super Bowl champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, recently appeared on comedian Theo Von’s podcast, where he gave his opinion on Hill’s move to Miami. His comments came across as a backhanded critique, suggesting that Hill made a mistake by choosing money over championships.
Antonio Brown: “It’s a Bad Decision”
During the podcast, Brown was asked whether it’s wise for an NFL player to leave a stronger team in favor of a bigger contract elsewhere. He specifically referenced Hill, who forced a trade from the Chiefs to the Dolphins in 2022, securing a four-year, $120 million deal in the process.
“It’s a bad decision. You just better ask Tyreek Hill,” Brown said.
“Cheetah [Hill’s nickname] should have stayed with Patrick Mahomes going to Super Bowls. It’s not nice in Miami.
“You come to Miami after your career for vacation. You don’t want to be there with the party scene and BBLs. It’s a distraction, man.
“You need to play in Kansas City. It’s cold, you can focus on football, and you’re gonna win.”
Brown essentially implied that Miami’s lifestyle is a hindrance to success, whereas Kansas City—despite its less desirable climate—is the right environment for a player focused on winning championships.
Tyreek Hill’s Response
Hill quickly caught wind of Brown’s comments and didn’t hesitate to respond. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he delivered a sharp yet respectful clapback:
“I think I’ll not take his advice. He still the GOAT thoughh.”
With that response, Hill made it clear that while he respects Brown’s talent, he isn’t interested in his unsolicited career guidance.
Has Hill Thrived or Struggled Since Leaving Kansas City?
Brown’s comments raise a valid debate—did Hill make the right call leaving the Chiefs?
On one hand, he’s never experienced playoff success with Miami. Since joining the Dolphins, Hill has played in two postseason games and lost both. Meanwhile, the Chiefs—led by Patrick Mahomes—have won back-to-back Super Bowls without him.
However, Hill has had the best individual seasons of his career in Miami.
- While he never surpassed 1,500 receiving yards in a single season with the Chiefs, he has eclipsed 1,700 yards in back-to-back seasons with the Dolphins.
- In 2023, Hill led the NFL in receiving yards (1,799) and touchdowns (13)—despite playing much of the season without Tua Tagovailoa.
So while Kansas City continued winning championships, Hill flourished as a player in Miami, proving he could be the true No. 1 option in an offense rather than just a piece in Mahomes’ system.
Hill’s Uncertain Future in Miami
Despite his record-breaking production, Hill’s long-term future in Miami is unclear. He has previously hinted at a desire for a change of scenery, and his contract situation could make that a reality sooner rather than later.
- His contract runs through 2027, but there’s a potential out in 2026 that would cost Miami $15.5 million in dead cap space.
- In 2024, Hill is set to earn a base salary of $10 million with a cap hit of $27.6 million after bonuses and restructuring.
With Miami still struggling to get over the playoff hump, it’s possible that Hill could seek another move in the coming years, whether for financial reasons or to chase another Super Bowl ring.

Final Verdict: Who’s Right?
Antonio Brown’s comments may have come across as condescending, but the core argument is worth discussing. Hill may have chosen money and individual success over team championships, but he hasn’t expressed regret over his decision. If anything, his response to Brown suggests he’s happy where he is—for now.
But if Miami continues to fall short in the playoffs, could Hill reconsider his stance and seek a return to a true Super Bowl contender? That remains to be seen.
