BREAKING NEWS: JuJu Watkins Breaks Major Scoring Milestone, Surpassing Caitlin Clark in NCAA History.giang

March 11, 2025 by Giang Giang

USC freshman JuJu Watkins has been rewriting the record books all season, and on Sunday, she added another historic achievement to her already impressive résumé. During the Pac-12 Tournament championship game against UCLA, Watkins surpassed Caitlin Clark’s total points from her first two college seasons, cementing her place among the greatest scorers in women’s college basketball history.

Breaking Caitlin Clark’s Two-Year Scoring Feat

Clark, now the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I basketball history, had an incredible 1,662 points through her first two college seasons at Iowa. Watkins, in just her first year at USC, broke that mark midway through Sunday’s title game, needing just eight points to officially pass Clark’s milestone.

How Watkins Compares to Other NCAA Greats

While surpassing Clark’s freshman-sophomore scoring total is a major feat, Watkins still has one more player ahead of her on the first-two-seasons scoring list—former Ohio State star Kelsey Mitchell, who holds the record with 1,762 points.

That record, however, may not stand for long. With USC poised for a deep NCAA Tournament run, Watkins has plenty of games left to chase down Mitchell’s mark before the end of March Madness.

What’s Next for Watkins? Could She Challenge Clark’s All-Time Record?

While Clark’s career record of 3,667 points remains a lofty goal, Watkins is on a historic scoring pace that puts her in contention to one day challenge that number. If she continues at her current rate, Watkins could position herself as the next NCAA scoring queen by the end of her college career.

For now, Watkins’ record-breaking season continues, and all eyes will be on her as she leads USC into the NCAA Tournament, with a chance to make even more history along the way.
