Nina Dobrev Proudly Supports Fiancé Shaun White’s Fashion Debut with Moncler Collaboration
Nina Dobrev is cheering on her fiancé, Shaun White, as he steps into the world of high fashion! Speaking exclusively with PEOPLE, the 36-year-old actress shared her excitement over White’s debut high-fashion collaboration between his brand, Whitespace, and Moncler Grenoble at the fall/winter 2024 show in Switzerland during Fashion Week on February 3, 2024.
“It was really exciting. I’m so proud of him,” Dobrev, best known for her role in The Vampire Diaries, said while promoting her partnership with SC Johnson for the Join Zuzu campaign, which raises awareness about plastic waste and the importance of recycling. “To have such a gorgeous collection and collaboration with such an established company like Moncler, and to see Whitespace’s pieces on the runway with top models was surreal and incredibly exciting for all of us.”
Whitespace, founded by White in 2022, is a snowboarding gear brand, and the Moncler collaboration marks one of its first forays into high fashion. White, 38, explained to Esquire how the collaboration came to be. “Moncler is a very unique brand, and they always offer some type of experience, so they didn’t disappoint,” he said, reflecting on the fashion show. “The clothes were amazing, and it was especially exciting to see someone add a fashionable component to this technical space. It’s about time.”
White had been in talks with Moncler since the pandemic, eventually reaching a point where Whitespace was producing high-quality snowboards. Moncler wanted to expand its technical outerwear with the Grenoble line, making the collaboration a perfect match. “Whitespace aligns perfectly with Moncler’s fashion-meets-function ideals,” White said. “I feel like we could give them credibility in performance, and they could give us some cool cred in the fashion world.”
In addition to the Moncler collaboration, White and Dobrev attended another Moncler show in Switzerland on March 15, 2024. The couple’s support for the brand continues to grow, as Dobrev remains by White’s side throughout his career journey.
Dobrev also opened up about her role in SC Johnson’s ocean cleanup initiative, sharing her experience of visiting a beach in Indonesia for her birthday, where she was devastated to find that the beach had been lost due to plastic waste. “I went back, and I was truly stunned in a horrible way that there was no beach left,” she recalled. “When I heard about the SC Johnson initiative, I was inspired and wanted to get involved right away.”
Through the campaign, Dobrev and SC Johnson are using a video of Zuzu the hermit crab to motivate people to take action against plastic pollution. “A lot of people can’t get on board because it’s out of sight, out of mind. But when you see it in this film, it really holds you accountable to do something,” she said.
Dobrev and White began dating in 2019 and made their relationship official in April 2020 with a humorous Instagram video. The couple announced their engagement in October 2023, with White posting photos of the proposal on Instagram, captioned, “She said YES.” Dobrev shared the same photos with the caption, “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé.”
