Anne Hathaway is set to star as the titular character in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling thriller novel Verity.
Following the success of It Ends With Us, Hoover’s 2018 hit is making its way to the big screen under the direction of Michael Showalter, who previously collaborated with Hathaway on The Idea of You. The screenplay will be adapted by Nick Antosca.
The novel follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, who is hired by Jeremy Crawford to complete a book series started by his wife, Verity, after a mysterious accident left her incapacitated. While living in the Crawfords’ estate, Lowen discovers an unsettling manuscript that blurs the lines between fiction and reality, unveiling dark secrets about the family.
While Hathaway is confirmed for the lead role, additional cast members for Lowen, Jeremy, and the Crawford children are yet to be announced. Production timelines are still under wraps, but an early 2026 release is anticipated.
