The Denver Broncos and outside linebacker Nik Bonitto have agreed to a four-year contract extension worth up to $120 million, with $70 million guaranteed. This deal makes Bonitto the highest-paid non-quarterback in Broncos history.

At 25 years old, Bonitto is entering the final year of his rookie contract but is coming off a career-best season where he recorded 13.5 sacks and 48 tackles in 2024, earning his first Pro Bowl selection. His performance was a major reason for the Broncos’ return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.

Selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft from Oklahoma, Bonitto has shown steady improvement, accumulating 23 sacks and 92 tackles over three seasons. The Broncos viewed him as a vital part of their rising defense, which ranked third in the NFL for fewest points allowed last season.

This extension secures Bonitto’s future with the Broncos through 2029 as the team builds around his pass-rushing skills to compete for championships. The Broncos have also recently extended other key players including Zach Allen and Courtland Sutton, strengthening their core as they head into a pivotal phase.

Coach Sean Payton and teammates have praised Bonitto’s work ethic, technique, and impact, highlighting the brilliance and intensity he brings to the defense. Maintaining his health and managing his snap count will be key to maximizing his performance this season.

Overall, this contract signals the Broncos’ commitment to keeping Bonitto as a cornerstone of their defense while pushing towards playoff success.
