Hampshire based has just launched its ‘Winter Food Appeal for Ukraine DOGS and CATS’ to raise funds to support the abandoned companion animals left behind after people fled the conflict.
The charity has been working to support the dogs and cats in Ukraine since the war began. It has already delivered over 95 tonnes of food and medical aid to shelters, most recently 9 pallets of dog food generously donated by Skinner’s.
The winter in Ukraine is bitterly cold, down to -20 °C, and many shelters are without power due to the constant shelling. Thousands of abandoned dogs and cats will starve to death this winter without help.
Gary Baxter, Co-founder of DogsnHomes Rescue, says, “We urgently need funds to help us continue to send food and aid to Ukraine. The situation for dogs and cats left behind is dire and the conditions are horrendous. We’re also helping the military with food for their working dogs on the front line.
“We’re committed to helping companion animals in Ukraine in the long term including an ongoing large scale spay and neuter campaign. It’s an animal welfare crisis on an enormous scale and the freezing winter temperatures just compound the suffering. We know that times are hard for everyone right now but please help us if you can as absolutely every penny counts.”
DogsnHomes Rescue works with a network of brave charity partners right across Ukraine to ensure that food deliveries are tracked and get to where they are most needed. To donate to this appeal please use the Justgiving link:
